Creating a Public Roadmap

Transparency builds trust. NanoLog allows you to share your upcoming features and current development priorities with your users via a Public Roadmap, integrated directly into your widget and hosted changelog page.

Why use the Roadmap feature?

  1. Manage Expectations: By showing users what you are currently working on, you reduce repetitive feature requests for items already in the pipeline.
  2. Build Hype: Teasing upcoming features keeps users excited about the future of your product and encourages retention.
  3. Show Momentum: A roadmap filled with recently "Released" items proves that your team is actively maintaining and improving the platform.

Adding Items to your Roadmap

Managing your roadmap is simple and decoupled from your actual release posts, allowing you to plan abstract features before writing full announcements.

  1. In the NanoLog dashboard, navigate to the Roadmap section via the sidebar.
  2. Click the New Item button.

New Roadmap Item Modal

  1. Enter a title and a brief description of the feature.
  2. Select the current Status:
    • Planned: Features on your radar but not actively being worked on.
    • In Progress: Features your team is actively building right now.
    • Released: Features that have been shipped.

Reordering and Publishing

You can control the priority of items within their respective columns. Use the Up/Down arrows (or drag and drop if supported) to rank the most important features at the top of the "In Progress" or "Planned" lists.

When a feature is finished, simply change its status to "Released". We recommend creating a corresponding "Post" in the Updates section to announce the full details of the release to your users.
